About Wildlife@Home:

Wildlife@Home is a joint effort between UND's Department of Computer Science and Department of Biology. The project is aimed at analyzing video gathered from various cameras recording wildlife. Currently the project will be looking at video of sharp-tailed grouse, Tympanuchus phasianellus, performing their mating dances (lekking), and then examining their nesting habits and ecology. The goal of the project is to use your volunteered computers to "sift" through the large amounts of video for interesting segments, and then letting you view this interesting video and help us analyze what is happening to the grouse and their nests.

The nest cameras will be set up both near western North Dakota's oil fields and also within protected state lands. We hope that your participation will help us determine the impact of the oil development on the sharp-tailed grouse and other wildlife in North Dakota, as well as provide some interesting video for everyone to watch and discuss!



Sobre Wildlife@home ( Vida silvestre ):

Wildlife@Home es un esfuerzo conjunto entre el Departamento de UND de Ciencias de la Computación y el Departamento de Biología. El proyecto está dirigido, a analizar el vídeo de la vida silvestre que reunieron varias cámaras de grabación. Actualmente el proyecto se busca en video de Urogallo de cola afilada, Tympanuchus phasianellus, el desempeño de sus danzas de apareamiento (lekking), y luego examinar sus hábitos de anidación y la ecología. El objetivo del proyecto, es utilizar los ordenadores como voluntarios para "filtrar" a través de las grandes cantidades de video para los segmentos de interés, a continuación, lo que le permite ver el vídeo interesante y nos ayudan a analizar lo que está sucediendo con el urogallo y sus nidos.

Las cámaras de los nidos se colocarán cerca del oeste de Dakota del Norte, los campos de petróleo y también dentro de las tierras protegidas por el Estado. Esperamos que su participación nos ayudará a determinar el impacto de la explotación petrolera en el urogallo de cola afilada y otros animales salvajes en Dakota del Norte, así como proporcionar algún video interesante para todo el mundo para ver y discutir!
